The CSCS (Construction Skills Certification Scheme) card is an ID card that proves you have the qualifications and health & safety training required for your role on a construction site. There are different colours for different skill levels.
Green Card — for labourers and new entrants (Level 1 H&S + HS&E test). Blue Card — for skilled workers (NVQ Level 2 + HS&E test). Gold Card — for supervisors (NVQ Level 3/4 or SSSTS + HS&E test). Black Card — for site managers (NVQ Level 6/7 + Managers HS&E test).
The CITB HS&E test is a touch-screen multiple-choice test taken at a Pearson VUE test centre. There are two versions: Operatives (for Green/Blue cards) and Managers & Professionals (for Gold/Black cards). You get 45 minutes for 50 questions and need to score 45+ (90%) to pass.
