Anyone attaching, slinging or directing loads for a crane or other lifting appliance — including signalling crane operators, coordinating lifts, and rigging loads. Most sites running lifting operations need at least one trained slinger signaller involved in each lift.
The role of the slinger signaller, planning a lift, slinging techniques, lifting equipment and attachments, standard hand signals and radio communication, and the legislation covering lifting operations.
The online awareness course takes around 2–3 hours. It does not replace practical, hands-on rigging/slinging competency training required for the role.
Certificates are typically treated as valid for 3 years, though this isn't set by a single piece of legislation — check your employer's policy for their refresher schedule.
